SmartLipo™ MPX is an FDA-approved laser body sculpting procedure that is designed to effectively liquefy and destroy fat cells while tightening the skin.
SmartLipo™ MPX is ideal for treating areas of unwanted fat on the face, neck, arms, abdomen, flanks, back and thighs.
The added power and multiple wavelengths of SmartLipo™ MPX makes it one of the most advanced systems in laser assisted lipolysis and one of the safest and most effective treatments in removing unwanted fat.
How does it work?
SmartLipo™ MPX works by carefully using a calibrated laser to liquefy fat deposits through the top layers of the patient's skin. The laser actually ruptures fat cells, and the resulting oily, liquid substance is then removed through a tiny incision in the skin by the surgeon. The small laser can also coagulate or seal blood vessels as it zaps fat, so there is less swelling, bleeding and bruising than with traditional liposuction methods. Research has shown that very little, if any, fat is reabsorbed back into the body. The energy that is also emitted by the SmartLipo™ MPX laser stimulates the tissue, inducing collagen production, resulting in tissue tightening.
The minimal invasiveness of the procedure allows patients to see faster results and to experience fewer complications. In addition, only a local anesthetic is used for this procedure, whereas traditional methods requires general anesthesia. Because only a local anesthetic is used, SmartLipo™ MPX carries much fewer risks than traditional liposuction, and the recovery time is much shorter. Patients often return to work within 1-2 days of undergoing the SmartLipo™ MPX procedure.
The Treatment Process
A very small cannula (tube) approximately 1.0 to 2.0 mm in diameter containing a laser fiber is inserted into the skin. The cannula is moved back and forth delivering the laser's energy directly to the fat cells, causing them to rupture and easily drain away. The laser energy also interacts with the dermis, resulting in skin shrinkage or tightening. After the fat is liquified, it is removed with power-assisted suction.
Due to the cannula's small size, SmartLipo™ MPX is a minimally invasive procedure and can be performed under local anesthesia. The laser causes small blood vessels to coagulate immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding, swelling and bruising – and a quicker recovery time than conventional liposuction. Because general anesthesia is unnecessary, the procedure is very safe, with only minimal side effects.
SmartLipo™ FAQ
What are the benefits of SmartLipo™ MPX?
The benefits of SmartLipo™ include:
* Treats unwanted fat and fat tissue irregularities
* Promotes tissue coagulation resulting in skin tissue tightening
* Improves flabby or lax skin and areas of high vascularity
* Minimal edema and bleeding due to the laser's hemostatic properties
* Minimal bruising

Does this procedure have FDA Clearance?
The SmartLipo™ MPX has been cleared by the FDA for laser-assisted Lipolysis.
Does laser-assisted Lipolysis produce lasting results?
Yes! The SmartLipo™ MPX procedure permanently destroys the treated fat cells. Adults do not create new fat cells. When a person gains weight, that person's fat cells simply expand.
Who is a good candidate for the procedure?
If you have areas of fat that will not respond to diet and exercise, then you're a candidate for SmartLipo™ MPX. Ideal candidates are in good health, of normal body weight and have realistic expectations for the results.
What body regions can be treated with SmartLipo™ MPX?
SmartLipo™ MPX is a great adjunct to traditional liposuction procedures, although it does not replace conventional liposuction. It is ideal for treating small areas of the face, neck, arms, breasts (gynecomastia), and areas of loose skin. Excellent results can also be seen in the upper and lower abdomen, flanks, thighs, knees, and back.
How Many Treatments Are Required?
Most patients only require one treatment. Laser assisted lipolysis produces long lasting results since adults to not create new fat cells. When a person gains weight, the fat cells expand. The SmartLipo™ MPX procedure permanently removes the fat cells.
When Can I Expect To See Results?
Results can be seen immediately with continued improvement over several months.
Is There a Recovery Period?
Recovery with SmartLipo™ MPX starts the moment the surgeon turns off the laser. It used to take weeks, or even months, of painful healing and limited mobility to recover from traditional liposuction. But with SmartLipo™ MPX, recovery time is now fast and relatively painless. Patients often return to work within 1–2 days of undergoing the SmartLipo™ MPX procedure. A pressure garment is typically worn after the procedure for several days to several weeks depending on the body area being treated. Exercise is resumed after a few weeks.
Does SmartLipo™ MPX Treat Cellulite?
The procedure will improve the body's shape and may improve cellulite to a certain degree.
