The products
We use injectable hyaluronic acids, such as Restylane Silk, Bolotero and Juvederm, which are the industry standard for lip injections. It’s also the only type of filler approved by the FDA. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, and along with being the molecule used in many fillers, it’s also an effective ingredient used in hydrating skin-care products. That’s because it plumps up the skin by capturing and holding onto water. Hyaluronic acid is well tolerated by our patients, and over time, dissolves on its own.
The procedure
Our lips have a lot of nerves in them, so they can be sensitive to being poked and prodded. We use topical numbing creams and, sometimes, shots, so that you can be as comfortable as possible. In addition, many of the hyaluronic acid injectable formulas include numbing lidocaine. Most of our patients describe the pain as mild to moderate, and it can last for a few days.
Natural results are possible
We’ve all seen lip injections that draw our attention for all the wrong reasons. In fact, done properly, lip enhancement won’t draw any attention at all.
