Dr. Anthony Waechter specializes in a full range of aesthetic medical services including: injectables, and dermal fillers, as well as the most sophisticated laser procedures encompassing: laser-assisted lipolysis, non-surgical skin tightening and resurfacing, photofacial, and laser vein and hair removal. He gives every patient personalized attention, and his expertise in anti-aging procedures ensures that patients are provided with advanced skin care solutions to treat their specific needs.
Dr. Waechter is a residency trained, board certified emergency medicine physician and he brings to his practice over 10 years of clinical experience. His diverse background and comprehensive aesthetic knowledge proves his commitment to patients embarking on a skin rejuvenation program. Under Dr. Waechter's medical care, patients enhance the health of their skin and body, as well as achieve a more youthful appearance.
Dr. Waechter attended the University of Colorado for his undergraduate education, obtained his Medical Degree at the Chicago Medical School - Finch University of Health Sciences, Interned at St. Joseph Hospital in Denver, Colorado, and attended Residency at the highly regarded Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.
Jennifer Otañez, RN, MSN
Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Jennifer Otañez is a Bay Area native who received her BA from UC Berkeley before going on to acquire her Master's in Nursing from San Francisco State University. She specialized in Women's Public Health and worked as a Labor and Delivery RN at San Francisco General Hospital for 7 years. She attended the National Laser Institute of Scottsdale, AZ, and developed her aesthetic skills at a San Jose clinic before joining Aura in 2011.
Customer service is a top priority for Jennifer, and she enjoys keeping up with the latest aesthetic research so she can provide safe and effective treatments that help her patients achieve their aesthetic goals.
Lourdes Villaneuva, NP
Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Lourdes started her nursing career with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing in the Kidney and Liver Transplant department at UCSF. Once she successfully completed her critical care training courses, she worked in the Cardiovascular Critical Care Unit. .
While in graduate school at UCSF, Lourdes began her career on the aesthetic side of nursing. She has worked with local dermatologists and plastic surgeons in the Bay Area. Through this experience, she realized her passion for injecting dermal fillers and laser aesthetic treatments such as Fraxel skin resurfacing and Intense Pulse Light.
As she graduates UCSF with her Master's of Science in Nursing in 2008, and currently works for the largest group of Critical Care MDs in California, she maintains her aesthetic interests with Aura Skin Spa. According to her, "It feels like I'm playing while helping people enhance their looks, rather than working."
Katherine Scanlon, RN, BSN
Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Kathy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from California State University East Bay and acquired over 21 years of health care experience. Her specialty areas include Ophthalmology, Pediatrics, Allergy and Urgent Care prior to becoming an Aesthetics Nurse in 2007.
Kathy joined the team at Aura Skin Spa in 2011. With a very detailed oriented, calm and nurturing personality she thoroughly enjoys helping her clients feel good about their skin and themselves.
Sophia Lyapina, RN
Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Sophie is a registered nurse with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing from her native Russia. Sophie has several years experience as a medical surgical nurse at Kaiser Permanente, but her true passion is aesthetics.
She began her career as an aesthetic RN over six years ago and started working for Aura in 2011. Sophie enjoys performing a variety of laser treatments, including laser hair removal, laser vein reduction, and Fraxel skin resurfacing. .
Sophie is a true artist with Botox and Dysport injections and dermal fillers and has quickly developed a loyal following amongst our patients. .
Melissa Gorden, RN, CNOR
Aesthetic Nurse Specialist
Melissa has worked primarily as an operating room nurse in a wide variety of clinical settings for over twenty years. Her passion for travel, exploration and connecting with people began when she was an exchange student in Istanbul, Turkey. She has continued to bring this passion to her to work as a traveling nurse in many locales both nationally and internationally, including Oxford, England, and across the United States.
Being a melanoma survivor and having many years of experience in plastic & and reconstructive surgery have helped shape Melissa's ever growing love of aesthetics. Melissa joined the team at Aura Skin Spa in 2011 and her devoted clients know that her attention to detail and high standards are singular.
Susan Perry
Aesthetician
Originally from England, Susan completed her training in Applied Aesthetics and Physiatrics in London. She has been working as an aesthetician since 1993. Throughout her career, Susan Perry has been dedicated to continuing education and has attended many advanced training schools and seminars. She is devoted to exploring the latest, most advanced skin care techniques and products available, eagerly integrating the most effective and promising of these into the practice.
Susan Perry is an active member of Associated Skin Care Professionals, a prestigious organization that is committed to excellence. She has extensive experience in the latest products and technologies, including microdermabrasion, alphahydroxy peels, beta hydroxy peels and acne treatments.
