Aura provides an effective and safe laser treatment to reduce unsightly veins on the face, legs or anywhere on the body. We can treat a broad range of vessels from tiny spider veins to deeper blue reticular veins quickly and with virtually minimal to no side effects.
How Vascular Vein Treatment Works
Our laser system delivers pulses of energy which causes the blood within the vein to coagulate, eventually destroying the vessel which is later reabsorbed by your body. Blood flow will then be redirected to veins deeper below your skin’s surface, where it should be.
What Types Of Veins Can Be Treated?
Several different types of veins can be treated with our laser system. Small, facial veins (or “telangiectasia”) can be treated quickly without bruising or complication. Spider veins and large blue veins can also be treated with excellent results. Our physicians provide free evaluations to help determine which vessels can be treated and the best course of treatment options.
Candidates For Laser Vein Therapy
Our laser system is safe for all skin types. Aura offers free consultations with our board certified physicians that will help determine if laser vein therapy is right for you.
What Can I Expect During Laser Vein Therapy?
The most common areas treated with laser vein therapy is the face and legs. However, laser vein therapy is a safe treatment that can be performed anywhere on the body. Generally, each patient can expect the following:
- Treatments are performed in the privacy and comfort of Aura Skin Spa, by a physician, registered nurse or nurse practitioner.
- Safety eyeglasses are worn to protect the physician or nurse practitioner and the patient’s eyes from the laser light during the procedure.
- A cold gel is applied to the area being treated.
- The smooth cold surface of the laser hand-piece is applied against the skin and a pulse of energy can be felt (a slight stinging sensation).
- This is repeated over the area that is being treated.
- The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes per session. The treatment can be shorter or longer depending on the area or areas being treated.
Following your treatment, some redness or bruising may occur. When larger veins are treated, a tan or brownish pigment may persist for a few weeks or months following treatment. Some patients may be advised to wear support hose for a short period of time.
Patients generally resume most normal activities immediately. However, it is recommended to avoid rigorous activities such as strenuous exercise for the first 24 hours after treatment.
Is Laser Vein Therapy Painful?
Most patients experience a stinging sensation as the pulses of energy are delivered through the handpiece. Although no local anesthesia or pain medication is typically required, many patients use a topical anesthetic prior to treatment.
How Many Laser Vein Therapy Treatments Will I Need?
Often, patients find that one or two treatments are sufficient. However, the number of treatments necessary depends on the number, color, and size of the vessels being treated. Since individual results vary, a free evaluation form our physician can help determine the number of treatments required.
When You Will See Your Results From Laser Vein Therapy
Most patients find that the majority of the treated veins have shown significant improvement within two to six weeks of treatment. However, your final result may not be apparent for several months. Individual results vary.
