Staying Happy and Healthy this Holiday Season
The holiday’s are full of joy and celebration, but often this time of year leaves us feeling drained. We want to give you several manageable tips on how to face the next few months for a happier and healthier start to the new year! This month we are kicking it off with tips on hydration and vitamin and mineral intake.
Hydrate!
Whether from your grandmother or your science class, you probably heard the “drink eight cups of water a day” rule growing up. But you may not know why hydration is so important or what factors contribute to dehydration. You’re not alone. A recent study from Cornell Medical Center revealed that nearly 75% of all Americans are chronically dehydrated! But what’s so surprising- some Americans are drinking the designated amount of water each day, but they are still dehydrated due to their caffeine, alcohol, and sodium intake.
Hydration is so important as water plays a role in every system in the body. From transporting nutrients and detoxifying your body of unwanted intruders to increasing metabolism and maintaining digestion, the effects of dehydration can cause major disruptions in your body. Did you know that dehydration can contribute to fatigue, irritability, and a foggy mind? Dehydration can even intensify the appearance of under eye bags and wrinkles!
To prevent dehydration, it is important to consume at least half of your body’s weight in ounces of water each day and more if you are exercising or drinking an increased amount of caffeine or alcohol. If you have trouble drinking water, here are a few tips-
-Try adding fresh fruit or a few drops of a citrus essential oil to your water for more taste.
-Drink decaffeinated or lightly caffeinated tea over coffee.
-Eat lots of water-rich vegetables like lettuce, celery, and bell peppers (hello veggie tray!)
and fruits like berries, melons, and citruses.
And for the overindulgent holiday nights that leave you feeling down, try our IV treatments that will help restore hydration and your overall health quicker.
Eat Your Greens!
And if you didn’t hear the cry to eat your greens enough when you were younger, here we are saying it again. Eat your greens and make sure you are getting proper portions of vitamins and minerals this holiday. It is ok to treat yourself to the pumpkin pie and Christmas cookies—since after all, it’s only around one time a year—but do so in moderation and don’t bypass that fruit and veggie tray. Skipping out on fruits and vegetables can cause deficiencies in your body that contribute to digestive issues, a loss of energy, and even lackluster skin. Not to mention, it’s is a sure way to gain that holiday weight!
Pay special attention to your Vitamin C intake. With the change of seasons and an increase in the number of people you come in contact with while out shopping or at Christmas gatherings, your immune system can become suppressed. Vitamin C helps to boost the immune system so that your body can fight off germs and aids in healing when you are sick. As an added benefit- Vitamin C also helps in the production of collagen which keeps your skin looking younger and more vibrant!

Refyne and Defyne Your Outward Beauty
In the words of Coco Chanel, “Beauty begins the moment you start to be yourself.” Chanel had it right, but this maxim is missing one thing. It’s important to be yourself, and it’s also important to LOVE yourself.
Loving yourself comes in many different forms and beauty is all about balance between the inner and the outer. Are you loving yourself by taking care of yourself on both the inside and the outside? During the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, we want to help you look and feel your best. While you are picking out that perfect outfit to wear to your family’s Thanksgiving or the office Christmas party, make sure you are thinking about how you are going to dress your outward self as a whole. Do you have unwanted wrinkles that are making you feel less beautiful? Are there places on your face that look hollow, tired, and are showing signs of age?
With our new injection line, Restylane, we can target those specific spots and transform your lackluster, aging skin into a more radiant version of you! Part of the appearance of aging comes from a loss of hyaluronic acid—a fancy word for a substance that your body naturally produces to give volume and elasticity to your skin. Over time, a few things happen as a result of this loss. Wrinkles and folds form, your skin becomes less full, and little lines start to form around areas like your lips and eyes. Restylane, Restylane Silk, and Restylane Defyne and Refyne products work to target these areas by adding hyaluronic acid back to your skin for a fuller, firmer appearance while still maintaining your natural expressions. With results that show up after only one to two treatments, it’s not too late to schedule an appointment before the holidays!
So, whether you are looking for a little filler for those pesky wrinkles or some plump to get your lips ready for the mistletoe, let us help you look stunning this holiday season before you step into that perfect Christmas party dress!
