Maybe your lips have always been a little thinner than you’d like them to be. Or maybe over the years you’ve noticed that your lips just don’t have the oomph that they did when you were younger. Whatever the reason, you don’t have to put up with lack-luster lips.
If you’ve never had lip injections, you probably have questions
You can start by talking to us about lip augmentation and the products we use every day for our patients. It’s important to tell us about your concerns and your expectations. We can talk about possible pain and side effects, and show you photos of results our patients have experienced.
We use injectable hyaluronic acids, such as Restylane Silk, Bolotero and Juvederm, which are the industry standard for lip injections. It’s also the only type of filler approved by the FDA. Hyaluronic acid occurs naturally in the skin, and along with being the molecule used in many fillers, it’s also an effective ingredient used in hydrating skin-care products. That’s because it plumps up the skin by capturing and holding onto water. Hyaluronic acid is well tolerated by our patients, and over time, dissolves on its own.
Our lips have a lot of nerves in them, so they can be sensitive to being poked and prodded. We use topical numbing creams and, sometimes, shots, so that you can be as comfortable as possible. In addition, many of the hyaluronic acid injectable formulas include numbing lidocaine. Most of our patients describe the pain as mild to moderate, and it can last for a few days.
Natural results are possible
We’ve all seen lip injections that draw our attention for all the wrong reasons. In fact, done properly, lip enhancement won’t draw any attention at all. People should only notice that you look better in some way they can’t exactly put their finger on. We understand the importance of achieving nuanced and aesthetics results, and strive to get the proportions right for each individual.
